I started taking photographs at work, wandering through the floral wholesaler always amazed  me. The shapes, colors and textures of the flowers en mass overwhelmed my senses, yet a single flower stem is so delicate.

When not at work I always enjoyed being outdoors and in nature, taking a walk through the woods or a stroll through the park. I see natures uniqueness in it’s different elements, textures and shapes. From vast landscapes to close up details there is always something to see, and it is ever changing. Even revisiting a place in different seasons reveals something new.

Light is different throughout the day. Soft in the morning before sunrise, harsh or mellow during the day depending on cloud cover, then dream like in the evening before the sky goes dark and reveals the stars. Blue Hour in the evening is one of my favorite times watching the light fade and the darkness of night starts to creep over us.

After the sun has gone down, the urban landscape takes on a different feeling, city scapes come alive with light and seem to hum. The scenery becomes highlights and shadows, and beautiful colors glow.  The night time natural world fades into darkness to reveal the enormity of the night sky. The changing constellations of stars hold stories for each season.

The moon cycles and the ebb and flow of the tides tell time. During a new moon for most of the year you can catch a glimpse of the Milky Way. However with the light and air pollution visibility from earth is limited and only visible now through the lens of a camera. I spend a lot of time finding dark skies to capture the enormity and beauty of the milky way.

Travel is a big part of my life, the world is full of fabulous diverse landscapes some reminding me of fairy tales or nightmares.  I am also drawn to abandoned places, their existence the materials and purpose they once had. Now uninhabited they reveal the structures strength and weakness, and left long enough, with out the help of human interaction, nature will always reclaim them. I travel to experience the world and capture it’s meaning with my photography.
